You take a step out of the landing capsule, awestruck.
Beams of moonlight illuminate the landscape with a soft, silvery glow, lifting the blackness to a shade of deep blue. The sound of crickets permeates the silent night, and fresh air fills your lungs as you take a deep breath. It's been some time since you've set foot on a living planet, let alone one as beautiful as this.
Suddenly, something catches your eye. Beyond the rise of several dunes, you see billows of smoke and the glow of a fire warming the horizon. Cautiously optimistic, you begin an arduous trek across just as dawn begins to creep in. By the time you get to the last dune, the skies have been dusted a soft grey; bold strokes of pink and purple line the canvas amidst shades of amber and rose, radiating hope - a new day. When you finally reach the top, you're greeted by a sight that takes your breath away.
A huge tower looms over a lush valley of green littered with small groups of people surrounding campfires. Many of them are scurrying about, seeming to be preparing for something, but what? As you approach the community, they welcome you warmly as if you were one of their own.
One kind man tells you that they're a community made up of explorers hailing from all over the galaxy. Some came seeking a new life while others came to discover new lands - everyone has their own unique backstory. Soon, they'll all be embarking on a great expedition together.
As his group puts out their campfire, ready to leave, he remarks that they still have space for one more. With a wide grin spread across his face, he turns to you and asks,
At Tembusu College, we believe that ours is a Home of Possibilities. The College houses a whole plethora of resources which students can tap on to kindle passions or break boundaries – a place of self-discovery. We are a community of vastly diverse individuals joined by our pursuits of passion and an institution where play and learn coexist in perfect equilibrium.
With this year marking the tenth year running for Tembusu College, the theme for our Welcome Week is “New Beginnings”, in honour of Tembusu’s rich history and culture built over the past decade that provides students with fresh and boundless opportunities. This is a place simply for us to explore and live our best lives.
Therefore, through this Welcome Week, we wish to inspire freshmen to chart their own journey in Tembusu and create their own legacy.
TWW is a 4-day programme to introduce you to various aspects of life in our College. You can look forward to a programme packed with interesting games, activities, and events to enjoy as you get to know your fellow Tembusians! There will also be talks with our Fellows and Master, as well as Senior-Junior interactions, to help you to learn about the UTCP and your major, and meet the diverse people who await you here.
